Perth Zoo
The Perth Zoo is a beautiful place that's as comfortable to animals as a city zoo can possibly be. There are lots of trees and a focus on natural habitat for the birds and animals that makes a visit there both enjoyable and educational. It's only 5 minutes by car from the city in South Perth or you can catch a ferry straight across the Swan River.

Fremantle Prison
The Fremantle Prison Gaol (Jail) as it is often called should be on everyone's list of sights to see when visiting Perth. Getting to Fremantle from Perth is very easy with bus and rail connections taking about 30 minutes. There's even a ferry but that takes quite a bit longer.
